My life in a nutshell... literally

Just out of reach.  I see it.  I know it's there.  But there's something always in the way.  The better cover letter.  The better experience with budgeting.  The school with the posting for the job where you've been subbing for the last five months.  Knowing someone in your desired field to get your foot in the door.

And the unfortunate thing is that the door you've been searching for is the one allows you to complete some of the goals you've set for yourself.  And I know that considering the circumstances that some of these won't happen in the next year or so, but God help me if I don't have an opportunity to start chipping away at them.

So people I come across tell you to stay positive.  That something will eventually happen.  Yes, eventually something will happen, duh.  It's like telling people who are looking for something that that particular item will be "in the last place you look."  Well no shit.  I'm not going to keep looking for something I've already found now am I?

But over 365 days later of literally nothing and we're back at square one.  Do we stay, do we go?  JP and I (more me than him I suppose) have become jaded to the whole process.  It's come to a point where I see a job that I could apply for and it stays there, on my screen in an open tab, for almost a week- maybe more.  Eh.  If it's there when I'm ready to apply for it, I was meant to apply for it.  If not, oh well.  Apathetic.  I'll get to it if I get to it.

How did this all happen?  I used to be so gung-ho! about tackling projects, issues, and challenges.

Where are the classes in college that teach graduates how to cope with the dreary state of the economy and prospect that nearly 85% of graduates are back living at home and working at a part-time job?  And so continues the cycle of over-educated individuals with zero experience.  But what are you to do?  If payments on the gigantic loans are to start six months post-graduation, and said graduate doesn't have a job substantial enough to support loan payments and cost of living, what are they to do?  Go back to school? Sure- but that only perpetuates the cycle of an over-educated and under-experienced work force.

ETA: Case and Point about college graduates and job outlook.... [even noted is a Pittsburgh grad]  And the "point" article stating that individuals in education are more likely to find a job is a load of malarkey if they have aspirations of teaching in a mid-west state with idiots for governors.
